My garden with a pine tree. I thought of simplifying it in the style of Picasso. I painted it twice.
– Anatoli Gostev (1946–2022)
What is the painting about?
The geometry of a pine tree in the artist’s garden on red soil. This is a Cubist artwork with simplified painting, where the geometric shape of the pine on red ground becomes the central element, prompting the viewer to explore the depths of form and color, revealing new aspects of the natural world. “Pine” is a reflection on the geometry of objects and the arrangement of composition through the lens of simple forms.
History of the painting
The sequel to the painting “Pine” was completed by the artist in 2017. Shortly afterward, he sold the garden along with the house, sent the painting to his son, and in his new home, he hung the first version of the painting, mentioned in the video “Painting is a can of preserves.”
