Story of the Painting.
The painting "Country House in Winter" was completed by the artist in 2020, inspired by his own earlier work that went missing or was stolen from K-Galerie im Maxforum in Munich. This occurred during the liquidation of the gallery where Gostev had a permanent exhibition. The incident is described in the “Lost and Found Paintings” article in the events section. The 1999 version of "Country House in Winter" is considered lost or stolen, along with 12 other works that disappeared from K-Galerie im Maxforum in Germany.
After much thought and sorrow, Gostev would later recreate “Red Road,” “Country House in Winter,” and “Night.” In a new, far superior version. He overcame the loss not through search, but by elevating the quality of the painting itself.
