Impression of the Painting

The concept for the painting emerged in 2019, though the artist worked on it sparingly. The background—the forest—reveals ongoing refinement. The direction and arrangement of the logs were revised several times in pursuit of compositional balance.
The painting “Logs in the Forest” was never exhibited and remained in the artist’s studio until his passing in 2022. For Gostev, the artistic process was a study in color combinations.
