Wassily Kandinsky — Gallery of Masterpieces from 1900 to 1944
The works of Russian painter and art theorist Wassily Kandinsky represent a journey from figuration to pure abstraction. He was one of the first artists to see sound in color and form in emotion.
Kandinsky’s approach to art was about freeing form from materiality. He challenged academic norms and created a new system of expression where emotion and spirituality became the main tools. Together with Franz Marc, he founded the “Der Blaue Reiter” group, but left behind not only a movement — but a philosophy.
We have selected more than 400 paintings by Wassily Kandinsky for publication, for several reasons:
- they show the full evolution from symbolism to geometric abstraction;
- they demonstrate key stages in the formation of his personal artistic system;
- they reflect the transition from music to form and from inner world to external vision.
Kandinsky's paintings invite viewers to contemplate the invisible, feel what words cannot express — that’s how he found meaning and poetry in pure color.

One can only admire Kandinsky’s perseverance and tireless work ethic — you have surely noticed that the gallery contains many seemingly similar works.
