Fractional Investment in Fine Art
Profit Through Accessible Investments.
Many people have seen how a piece of art, purchased from a talented artist for a modest price, years or even decades later is auctioned off at Christie's or Sotheby's for staggering sums—bringing the owner millions in profit. But how can one determine the financial potential of an artist or a particular work? Who decides how much a painting is worth? And will it be worth anything at all?
The PR and marketing departments of major auction houses often push bananas duct-taped to walls alongside masterpieces by Modigliani, Gauguin, or Picasso—relying on their long-standing authority in the art world and slogans like “This is trendy and cool.” But it’s not. The real price of a banana with duct tape is $1.20. When you see such a lot sell for six million and the buyer eat the banana, you might wonder: somewhere, a new Leonardo is painting breathtaking canvases, skipping meals to buy a tube of paint. He has no shot at becoming a headline lot—and the world loses the chance to value his art.
The Art Slice investment project is simple, transparent, and open to everyone—you decide the potential of a work and its artist. You shape the market and the price, becoming partners, patrons, and like-minded believers in a higher mission: recognizing the talent of those who make the world more beautiful by pouring their soul into canvas. And you become an investor, fully entitled to assess and profit from your investment.
FAQ: Fractional Investment in Works of Art.
What is Fractional Investment?
By acquiring ownership of a digital fragment of an artwork (Art Slice), you become an investor — entitled to a share of potential profit proportional to the number of acquired fragments, or “art slices.” Upon receiving a root certificate registered to your name on the Bitcoin blockchain, along with a proof file and a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) containing all ownership data, you are guaranteed immutable information regarding provenance, authorship, and your digital investment asset, backed by the value of the artwork.
Example of a Painting Fragment Ownership Certificate
The root investment certificate (PDF) contains key details about your asset: the artwork securing your investment, the name of the artist, and the serial numbers of your investment fragments. The proof file (OTS) confirms registration of the root certificate — a timestamped SHA256 hash stored on the Bitcoin blockchain. The COA certificate includes the SHA256 hash of the root certificate, the block number from the OTS proof file, and the Merkle proof number embedded in the structure of the Bitcoin block.
This ensures verifiable authenticity and relevance throughout the lifetime of the artwork fragment. It has legal validity and cannot be altered — a technological, eternal, digital "reinforced concrete."
Root Certificate Proof File COA – Compare Data VerificationWhat Is the Investment Asset?
The asset securing your investment is intact, insured, and preserved — a physical painting, a complete work of art with steadily increasing value. Something that has historically delivered consistent returns.
No, we don’t cut paintings into pieces with a knife. That would be neither practical nor effective — it’s unlikely that selling art by the square centimeter would attract buyers. That’s exactly why you own a digital fragment of a painting, backed by a real, tangible artwork.
Investor Information
By investing in a share of the potential profit from the sale of an artwork, you become our partner and like-minded collaborator — we share a common goal: to achieve the highest possible return from the sale of the painting. Your investment goes toward promotion, exhibitions, and the public recognition of the artwork in which you’ve placed your capital. Together, we promote art, raise its value, and share the profits.
Can My Investment Be Lost?
A painting — a true work of art — always finds its owner and its destiny. Your investment becomes part of the process: raising awareness of the painting, the artist, and the art itself. In addition:
- Your contribution is permanently recorded on the blockchain and remains traceable until dividends are paid following the sale of the painting.
- The majority share of slices (> 50%) determines the artwork's official owner and serves as a guarantee of control.
How Is Art Slice Different from NFTs?
It’s important to understand that your asset is backed by a real, physical object. This is not just zeros and ones or a promise of future gains — it’s a digital fragment of an actual artwork. Sure, you could “invest” in a pixelated face on an NFT, but you might as well go to a casino — at least it’s more fun. We all know how those stories end. We aim to minimize risk: quality art, like a fine aged cognac, only gains in depth and value over time.
Are There Any Examples of Successful Art Slice Investments?
No — Art Slice is our proprietary know-how that radically lowers the barrier to entry into the art investment space. We’re ready to launch a new partnership with you. This project is designed to clean up the art world — cutting through the noise and promoting beauty, emotion, and thought through painting. Your investments also help shape the ranking of artworks.
Great examples of successful art investments can be found in every one of our artist galleries — these are record-breaking sales at Christie's and Sotheby's.
What Assets and Opportunities Support a Successful Art Sale?
The Gostev family owns the international advertising agency FABER VISUM and other online platforms focused on promotional support. We maintain international contacts with galleries and investors.
Additionally, we rely on our partners — on you! By owning an “Art Slice,” you become part of the process of increasing both the artwork’s value and the potential return. Maybe you’ll mention the piece on social media, bring it up in conversation, or leverage your own network and connections.
Beyond that, the family has long nurtured a dream — the ENTAXY Art Center project, designed to increase the liquidity of art assets. You can explore the project in detail; it is also open to investors, although the required investment amounts differ significantly from those for Art Slices.
Fixed Price of the Artwork
We set the initial fixed value of the artwork based on refined artistic judgment developed over three generations of our family, expert consulting, and consideration of various market conditions. For example:
$105,000 USD is the set value for a work by Anatoli Gostev, whose paintings always start at a minimum of $100,000. This is due to the artist’s mastery, reputation, past sales, long-term investment potential, and — sadly — his passing. European critics referred to Gostev as “the last painter to inherit the legacy of the great masters.” Accordingly, we guarantee that the value of a single asset — your slice of the painting — will not fall below $625, based on 168 fragments comprising the full artwork. And we are confident in the continued appreciation of the painting's value.
Art Slice Price and Ownership Limit
As part of our accessible investment project in contemporary art — “Art Slices”, we virtually “divide” a painting into parts. For example, a 60x70 cm canvas has an area of 4,200 square centimeters (60 cm × 70 cm = 4,200 cm²). With each fragment sized at 5×5 cm, the price of a single “Slice” — a painting fragment — is set at $625 USD. This makes investment in high-value fine art accessible to a broader audience of interested individuals.
Fragment Ownership Limit
If the artwork is originally owned by the family dynasty, we retain 50% plus 1 fragment of the painting, offering 50% minus 1 fragment for public investment. This approach is logical — we’re also financially invested in the outcome and interested in sharing the profit.
Art Dividend Payouts and Taxes
Dividends are paid out after the artwork is sold. Both you and we are equally interested in maximizing profit. For example, if a year from now we decide to sell the painting and, after taxes, the net return is +100% over the fixed price, you receive +100% back on each of your slices. And if the painting sells for ten times its original value? It’s simple math. The more slices you invest in, the greater your share of the profit.
Who Pays Taxes?
Each investor is responsible for their own tax obligations on any profit received. After we pay the necessary taxes on the sale of the artwork, we simply distribute your investment return along with your earned dividends.
Who decides to sell an investment art object?
The decision is made by the artist or the owner of the art object, who also holds the "controlling slice package" (> 50% of the fragments). It is this "controlling slice package" that grants the right to own the physical art object backing the fractional investment.
The artwork cannot be sold below its fixed price — your investment must remain protected.
Can you sell your assets?
As one character once said: obvio. The owner can sell or transfer their asset to another person. In this case, you must notify us and initiate a certificate of transfer — we need to know who to pay once the art object is sold. Here's how it works: you submit a transfer request and authenticate using the root certificate of your fragment. We’ll generate a new certificate based on the blockchain data of the previous one, you sign it, and we issue a new root certificate with the new owner's details. The process is subject to a fee: 200 EUR or 0.1 ETH.
