Zhivoin Chelich – Gallery of the Serbian master

Artistic Method.

The essence of Zhivoin Chelich's artistic method is that paintings change under the influence of daylight.

As known from optics, white light contains all seven primary colors, and at different times of the day, a certain color dominates. It's these changes that paintings "capture," and viewers can see how red on the canvas turns blue or white(!), green becomes yellow, and so on.

It's important to mention that artistic acrylic paints are used in the work without any special properties.

Zhivoin Chelich is a great master of working with color. Paints applied to the surface in various ways, often removed, create a graphic effect. His paintings speak of a perfect sense of color and possess a three-dimensional effect. Each work is based on a fundamental idea (the initial layer), over which the next layer is applied, and so on until the final layer. Often, one painting contains up to ten images, and thanks to the fact that the artist partially covers them until they disappear completely and applies new ones, harmony is created, in which many thoughts are hidden, and new layers are always directly related to the initial idea - the primary concept. Chelich meditates prayerfully before his tools touch the canvas surface.

At the opening of his exhibition "Essential Emotions," the artist, who came from Yugoslavia to the Netherlands in 1991, had no secrets regarding his painting methods: "We simply apply lines with a brush on the canvas. Nothing unusual!"

In the new gallery of Lilian Luiten, Markt 7 in Ootmarsum, eighteen canvases by the author Zhivoin Chelich, who lives in Enschede and works in his studio as part of the De Werkhaven art organization, are declared revolutionary in the history of art.

The artist has achieved a lot on the international stage. Collectors from Europe, Australia, Argentina, Japan, and the USA eagerly acquire his works. Together with colleagues from the Netherlands, Zhivoin presented his creations in Poznan, Poland, and Damascus, Syria.
